Emeka Ike Blasts Dating For Financial Gain Alone

Emeka Ike has weighed in on the growing conversation about the motives behind some modern relationships, arguing that love and marriage should never be reduced to financial transactions.

The Nollywood actor believes the idea that love is a scam comes from the actions of people who approach relationships with the wrong intentions. According to him, the problem is not love itself, but individuals who see romance as a way to secure money, gifts or material support.

Sharing his opinion, Emeka Ike said, "Love and marriage is not a scam. But some people are hungry and use relationships as a meal ticket. That’s where it becomes a scam."

His remarks focus on what he sees as a shift away from the values that traditionally define relationships. Rather than being built on trust, commitment and genuine affection, he suggested that some relationships are now driven by personal gain, making it difficult for people to distinguish sincere love from exploitation.

The actor also criticized those who intentionally pursue relationships for financial benefits. In his view, entering a romantic relationship with the primary goal of receiving money or expensive gifts undermines the purpose of being with someone.

Expressing his frustration, he said, "Some girls go into relationships just because of what they want to collect from the man. They should rather go and beg on the streets, not use relationship. Relationship is supposed to be sacred."

While his comments specifically referred to some women, the broader message centered on the importance of honesty and genuine intentions in romantic relationships. Emeka Ike maintained that relationships should not become opportunities for one person to take advantage of another financially.

He stressed that love and marriage deserve to be treated with respect because they are built on emotional connection, mutual understanding and shared values. According to him, when financial expectations become the foundation of a relationship, the bond loses the sincerity that should define it.

The actor's comments add to ongoing conversations about expectations in dating and marriage, particularly at a time when discussions around money, gifts and financial responsibility continue to shape many relationships. While opinions on the issue differ, Emeka Ike believes that genuine love should never be mistaken for a business arrangement.

For him, relationships are meant to bring two people together through trust, loyalty and mutual care, not serve as a means of making personal financial gains. He insists that the institution of love and marriage remains meaningful when both partners are driven by sincere intentions rather than material rewards.
