Popular Nigerian content creator and online personality Ademola Abiodun, better known as DJ Chicken, has regained his freedom after spending 11 days in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.
The social media entertainer announced his release on Tuesday through his official Instagram page, ending days of uncertainty surrounding his detention.
With a brief but celebratory message, DJ Chicken informed his followers that he was no longer in custody.
“I’m back,” he wrote.
The announcement quickly attracted reactions from fans and fellow content creators, many of whom welcomed him back to social media after his stay in prison.
Lawyer Confirms Release
DJ Chicken’s legal representative, Rotimi Stephen, also confirmed that his client had been released.
Sharing the development on his Instagram Story, the lawyer expressed gratitude over the outcome of the case.
“All Glory to God! djchicken,” he wrote, without providing further details about the conditions surrounding his release.
The confirmation brought relief to supporters who had closely followed the legal proceedings since the entertainer was remanded in custody earlier this month.

In the clip, the content creator made comments in Yoruba while discussing President Bola Tinubu’s possible re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The alleged threat subsequently formed the basis of the charges brought against the online personality.

Family Pleaded For Mercy
During DJ Chicken’s detention, members of his family publicly appealed for intervention on his behalf.
His elder sister released an emotional plea, asking social media influencer Tunde Perry and other Nigerians to help secure his release by appealing directly to Seyi Tinubu.
According to her, the family had already suffered significant hardship after losing both parents and had no one else to depend on.
She described the content creator’s situation as heartbreaking and pleaded for compassion.
“Please, Tunde Perry, I’ve heard a lot about you. Please help me support him. To all his fans, please help me support him. Don’t let him go to jail,” she said.
She also explained that she was speaking not only as his sister but as someone desperately seeking mercy for a family already facing numerous challenges.
“I’m his elder sister. We’re orphans, and we have no one. Please forgive him. I beg on his behalf,” she added.
Her emotional appeal generated mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians urging restraint while others stressed the importance of taking responsibility for comments made on social media.
