Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has dismissed widespread speculation that he has reunited with his ex-wife, Annie Macaulay, following the circulation of a viral video showing the former couple dancing together.
The clip, which resurfaced on social media in recent days, quickly generated intense reactions from fans and entertainment followers, many of whom interpreted the footage as evidence that the estranged couple had reconciled after their highly publicised separation.
However, both Annie and 2Baba have now clarified that the video is not recent, urging the public to disregard reports suggesting they are back together.
Viral Clip Sparks Reconciliation Rumours
The speculation began after a video showing 2Baba and Annie sharing a light-hearted moment at a nightclub started making the rounds online.
The footage, which captured the pair dancing and appearing comfortable in each other’s company, led many social media users to conclude that they had resolved their differences.
Several blogs and entertainment platforms amplified the claims, while fans debated whether the former couple had decided to give their relationship another chance.
The rumours gained further momentum as the video continued to spread across multiple social media platforms, prompting reactions from celebrities and supporters who had closely followed the couple’s relationship over the years.
Annie Speaks First
Before 2Baba addressed the speculation, Annie had already reacted to the reports.
The Nollywood actress took to her Instagram Story to distance herself from the claims, making it clear that the circulating footage should not be interpreted as proof of a reconciliation.
Without directly addressing the details surrounding the video, Annie warned people against accepting everything they encounter online as factual.
“Believe everything u see on social media at ur expense,” she wrote.
Her brief but pointed message suggested that the reports were misleading, although discussions about the pair continued to dominate social media.
2Baba Confirms Video Is Old
On Tuesday, 2Baba also broke his silence over the matter.
Sharing a short message on his Instagram Story, the veteran singer dismissed the speculation by explaining that the video currently circulating online was recorded some time ago.
“Abeg nah old video o,” he wrote.
Although his statement was brief, it effectively ended speculation that the video reflected a recent meeting between the former couple.
His clarification aligns with Annie’s earlier comments, with both maintaining that the trending footage does not indicate a romantic reunion.
Marriage Ended Last Year
The clarification comes more than a year after 2Baba publicly announced the end of his marriage to Annie.
Their separation became official after the singer confirmed that they had gone their separate ways, bringing an end to one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity marriages.
The couple, who got married in 2012 after years together, share two daughters and had remained one of the entertainment industry’s most recognisable power couples for over a decade.
Throughout their marriage, they frequently attracted public attention, with fans celebrating their milestones while also witnessing periods of personal challenges that often became topics of public discussion.
Both Have Moved Forward
Since the separation, Annie has repeatedly stated that she is single and focused on raising her daughters while rebuilding her career.
She has also denied several rumours suggesting she intends to reconcile with her former husband.
Meanwhile, 2Baba has moved on with his personal life.
The singer is now married to Natasha Osawaru, an Edo State lawmaker, following the end of his relationship with Annie.
He has consistently maintained that Natasha played no role in the collapse of his previous marriage despite widespread speculation.
Fans Continue To React
Despite the explanations from both Annie and 2Baba, the resurfaced video has continued to generate conversations across social media.
Many fans expressed relief after hearing the clarification, while others criticised the growing trend of recycling old videos and presenting them as recent events to attract online engagement.
The incident once again highlights how quickly misinformation can spread online, particularly when it involves high-profile celebrities whose personal lives often attract widespread public interest.
For now, both Annie and 2Baba have made their positions clear, insisting that the viral footage is old and should not be viewed as evidence of a renewed relationship.
