Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has stirred widespread excitement on social media after dropping a subtle hint suggesting he may be preparing to release a new music project.
The Grammy-winning artist recently took to his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he simply posted “Album🦅” without any further explanation or context. Despite the brief nature of the post, it immediately triggered massive speculation among fans and music lovers who believe the singer could be gearing up for a major comeback.
Many followers have begun to anticipate a new body of work, especially given Wizkid’s reputation for surprise announcements and carefully timed releases. The post has since been widely shared across social platforms, with fans debating possible release dates, featured artists, and the direction of the upcoming project.
If confirmed, the project would mark Wizkid’s first major release since his 2024 album Morayo, which dropped in November of that year. The album was deeply personal, dedicated to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023. The project received emotional responses from fans and was widely discussed for its reflective tone.
Wizkid’s journey in the music industry has spanned over a decade, beginning with his debut album Superstar in 2011, which introduced him as one of Nigeria’s most promising young talents. The success of that project laid the foundation for a career that would eventually grow into global recognition.
He followed up with Ayo in 2014, a project that further strengthened his presence in the Afrobeats scene. In 2017, he released Sounds From The Other Side, which marked a shift toward a more international sound and helped expand his audience beyond Africa.
His 2020 project Made in Lagos became a global success, featuring hit tracks and collaborations with major international and African artists including Burna Boy, Tems, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R., Ella Mai, and Terri. The album played a major role in pushing Afrobeats further into the global mainstream.
In 2022, Wizkid released More Love, Less Ego, continuing his exploration of mellow sounds and emotional storytelling, a style that has become one of his signatures.
His influence was further cemented in 2021 when he won a Grammy Award for his contribution to Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl,” a moment that marked one of the highest points in his international career.
Beyond awards, Wizkid’s impact has also been reflected in streaming records. In October 2024, Made in Lagos was confirmed as the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music, reinforcing his status as one of the most successful Afrobeats artists of his generation.
While Wizkid has not officially confirmed any details about the teased “Album🦅” post, the message has already ignited anticipation across the music industry, with fans eagerly waiting for further announcements.
