Nigerian fashion entrepreneur has spoken out about the rising cost of living in the country, sharing a personal experience that reflects how expensive everyday items have become.

She expressed concern after buying suya for N17,000, only to feel the portion she received did not match the price. According to her, what should have been a simple food purchase ended up highlighting a bigger issue around inflation and shrinking value for money.

“I bought Suya 17k and they gave me 11 squares cube pieces, 5k cannot even cook soup for a family anymore, there’s no way your staff or anyone won’t steal from you this time, something needs to be done asap cos people will soon start entering each others houses to steal,” she said.

Her comments were not just about the food itself, but about what she believes the situation represents in daily life. She pointed out that the rising cost of basic necessities is putting pressure on both individuals and families, making even simple meals harder to afford compared to before.

In her remarks, Lawani also expressed worry about the wider effects of the economic situation. She suggested that when living costs continue to rise without relief, it could create more tension in society and push people into difficult situations. While her statement was emotional, it reflects growing frustration many Nigerians have been expressing about the cost of food and basic living expenses.

Over the past months, prices of food items, transportation, and household essentials have continued to climb across different parts of the country. For many people, items that were once considered affordable are now becoming difficult to buy regularly, forcing households to adjust their spending habits.

Lawani’s reaction adds to ongoing conversations about inflation and the pressure it places on daily living. Her experience with something as simple as buying suya has become a reflection of a larger concern shared by many consumers.

As prices continue to fluctuate, her statement highlights a growing demand for attention to the economic situation and the need for relief measures that can ease the burden on ordinary citizens.
