Veteran Fuji musician Remi Aluko has revealed that he is living with severe vision loss caused by glaucoma, disclosing that the condition has deteriorated to the point where he can barely see despite undergoing medical treatment.
The respected entertainer made the emotional revelation during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, where he spoke candidly about the health challenge he has quietly battled for years while continuing to pursue his career and daily activities.
According to Aluko, many people are unaware of the extent of his condition because he has deliberately chosen not to allow it define him publicly. Although his eyesight has significantly worsened, he said he has continued to manage his life independently and refuses to allow the illness to break his spirit.
Speaking about the impact of the disease, the singer explained that his vision has deteriorated so much that he now considers himself no different from someone who is completely blind.
“I’m a glaucoma patient. I’m managing myself; I’m currently not seeing. Despite being a glaucoma patient, many people don’t know. There’s no difference between me and a blind person now, but no one knows because I don’t let my condition weigh me down,” he said.
His comments have sparked sympathy from fans and colleagues who were unaware that the Fuji star had been dealing with such a serious health challenge behind the scenes.
Glaucoma is a medical condition that damages the optic nerve, often due to increased pressure inside the eye. If not detected and managed early, it can gradually lead to irreversible vision loss. The condition is regarded as one of the leading causes of blindness worldwide.

“Thank God that I know how to take care of myself like someone who can see. I decided not to dwell on my condition because I don’t want to be depressed,” he said.
