Veteran Fuji musician Remi Aluko has revealed that he is living with severe vision loss caused by glaucoma, disclosing that the condition has deteriorated to the point where he can barely see despite undergoing medical treatment.

The respected entertainer made the emotional revelation during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, where he spoke candidly about the health challenge he has quietly battled for years while continuing to pursue his career and daily activities.

According to Aluko, many people are unaware of the extent of his condition because he has deliberately chosen not to allow it define him publicly. Although his eyesight has significantly worsened, he said he has continued to manage his life independently and refuses to allow the illness to break his spirit.

Speaking about the impact of the disease, the singer explained that his vision has deteriorated so much that he now considers himself no different from someone who is completely blind.

“I’m a glaucoma patient. I’m managing myself; I’m currently not seeing. Despite being a glaucoma patient, many people don’t know. There’s no difference between me and a blind person now, but no one knows because I don’t let my condition weigh me down,” he said.

His comments have sparked sympathy from fans and colleagues who were unaware that the Fuji star had been dealing with such a serious health challenge behind the scenes.

Glaucoma is a medical condition that damages the optic nerve, often due to increased pressure inside the eye. If not detected and managed early, it can gradually lead to irreversible vision loss. The condition is regarded as one of the leading causes of blindness worldwide.

For Aluko, the diagnosis has become a life-changing reality. Despite undergoing surgery in an effort to preserve his sight, he disclosed that the treatment did not prevent the continued decline in his vision.

While many people facing similar circumstances might withdraw from public life, the musician said he has made a conscious effort to remain positive and maintain as much independence as possible.

“Thank God that I know how to take care of myself like someone who can see. I decided not to dwell on my condition because I don’t want to be depressed,” he said.

The singer explained that focusing too much on the illness would only affect his emotional wellbeing, which is why he has chosen to adapt to the situation rather than surrender to it.

Known for his energetic performances and contributions to the Fuji music genre, Remi Aluko has spent decades entertaining fans across Nigeria and beyond. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation as one of the notable voices in Yoruba indigenous music, earning admiration for his distinctive style and stage presence.

His latest revelation offers a rare glimpse into the personal struggles he has faced away from the spotlight. While audiences often see entertainers during performances and public appearances, Aluko’s story highlights the unseen challenges many public figures endure while continuing to meet professional commitments.

Despite the severity of his condition, the Fuji star remains determined to move forward with his life. Rather than seeking sympathy, he appears focused on adapting to his circumstances and finding ways to continue functioning independently.

His remarks have also drawn attention to the importance of regular eye examinations and early detection of glaucoma, a condition that often develops gradually and may not present obvious symptoms in its early stages.

For now, Aluko says he is taking things one day at a time, relying on faith, resilience, and a positive mindset as he navigates the realities of living with severe vision impairment.

Although he admits that his eyesight has been drastically affected, the veteran musician remains committed to living his life with courage and dignity, refusing to allow his condition to define who he is or what he can still achieve.
