Ivy Okoye, wife of Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, has spoken out against the growing culture of comparing and criticizing pregnant women, urging people to show more empathy toward expectant mothers and recognize that every pregnancy journey is different.

In a strongly worded message, Ivy stressed that pregnancy is a serious experience that affects women in unique ways, making it unfair to judge one woman’s journey against another’s.

According to her, many people fail to understand the physical, emotional, and medical realities that come with carrying a child. She noted that while some women may appear to have smooth pregnancies, others face significant challenges, and neither experience should be used as a standard for comparison.

“Pregnancy is not a joke! It’s a life or death situation, literally! Come women very gracefully, some struggle. What matters is that they’re both bringing life,” she said.

Ivy emphasized that no two women experience pregnancy in exactly the same manner because every individual has a different body structure, health history, and biological makeup. She pointed out that even women from the same family can have completely different pregnancy experiences.

“No two women are the same, not even twins and no two bodies are the same!” she added.

The entrepreneur went on to highlight several factors that can influence how a woman carries a pregnancy. These, she explained, include genetics, quality of life, nutrition, hormonal balance, mental and emotional well-being, and overall physical health.

She also drew attention to a factor that is often overlooked in conversations about pregnancy, stating that the quality of the sperm can also contribute to how a pregnancy develops.

Listing the various elements that can shape a woman’s experience, Ivy argued that pregnancy outcomes are influenced by a combination of biological, environmental, and lifestyle factors, making comparisons both inaccurate and insensitive.

She further noted that partners have a role to play in supporting pregnant women throughout the journey and should be mindful of the impact they can have on a woman’s overall well-being.

“So yes, you can affect the way your woman carries too!” she stated.

Her comments come amid ongoing conversations about body image, pregnancy expectations, and the pressure some women face to meet unrealistic standards during pregnancy.

Ivy concluded her message with a passionate appeal for understanding, urging people to stop judging expectant mothers based on how they look, feel, or navigate pregnancy.

“STOP SHAMING PREGNANT WOMEN!!” she declared.

She means every pregnancy is unique and that compassion, rather than criticism, should be extended to women as they go through one of life’s most demanding experiences.
