Nigerian singer Skales has said he is yet to see a presidential hopeful capable of steering the country toward meaningful progress as conversations around the 2027 general election begin to emerge.

The music star shared his view while reacting to a question from broadcaster Oseni Rufai, who asked Nigerians which candidate they would be supporting in the next presidential election.

Rather than expressing support for any political figure, Skales made it clear that he remains unconvinced by the options currently on the horizon.

According to him, none of the individuals being discussed as potential contenders has inspired confidence that they can address the country's challenges or deliver the level of leadership Nigerians desire.

“To be honest, none,” the singer wrote. “I don’t see any good candidate that can take this country to a better place", he stated.

Skales’ remarks add another voice to the ongoing frustration many Nigerians have continued to express about the country’s political direction. As conversations gradually shift toward the 2027 general elections, his position reflects a sense of uncertainty that is becoming more common in public discourse  where trust in potential candidates is still being weighed against expectations of meaningful change.

While elections are still some time away, comments like his highlight a broader mood of scepticism among citizens who are watching the political space closely but remain unconvinced by the options being presented so far. Whether this sentiment will evolve as campaigns begin to take shape remains to be seen, but for now, it underscores the challenge ahead for those seeking public confidence in the next electoral cycle.
