Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has embarked on a new chapter outside the entertainment industry after officially joining the United States Army, describing the achievement as the fulfilment of a long-held personal ambition and a way of honouring his late father.

The actor announced the milestone on Friday through a post on his verified Instagram page, where he revealed that he successfully completed 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri before earning his place in the US Army.

Sharing details of his experience, Momodu explained that the rigorous programme pushed him physically and mentally, demanding resilience, discipline and unwavering determination.

He said he has always believed that meaningful accomplishments should be earned through hard work rather than shortcuts, a mindset that motivated him throughout the demanding training.

According to the actor, the weeks spent at the military facility were filled with several challenges, including physical exhaustion, emotional pressure and moments of uncertainty.

Despite facing fatigue, difficult weather conditions and self-doubt, he remained committed to seeing the programme through to completion.

Momodu admitted there were occasions when he questioned his decision to undergo the intensive military exercise. However, he said giving up was never an option because he remained focused on reaching his goal.

Reflecting on the transformation, he described the experience as life-changing, noting that military training completely reshaped his mindset.

He explained that recruits were pushed beyond their comfort zones before being rebuilt into disciplined soldiers, adding that he entered the programme as a civilian and emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility.

Beyond the personal achievement, Momodu revealed that his enlistment carries deep emotional significance because it continues a family legacy left behind by his late father. He disclosed that on April 12, 2026, exactly two decades after his father's passing, he chose to honour his memory by pursuing military service.

His father had previously served in the Nigerian Police Force, and Momodu said joining the United States Army represents his own way of carrying forward that tradition of public service.

The actor also announced his official military designation as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu. He is attached to the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

In his message, Momodu dedicated the accomplishment to God, his late father and the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

He equally expressed appreciation to the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for supporting his enlistment process. The actor also thanked his associate, Akeem Ogara, for handling his social media activities throughout the period of military training, allowing him to focus entirely on completing the demanding programme.

Momodu's announcement has drawn congratulatory messages from fans and colleagues, many of whom praised his determination to pursue military service while maintaining his identity as a Nollywood actor.
