YOUR FATHER OR ME is a 2026 Nigerian family drama that focuses on the fragile balance between marriage and family interference.

The film features veteran Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh alongside Pamela Okoye, and it is presented by Chinedu Benjamin TV. It tells a powerful domestic story that shifts quickly from harmony to chaos when external influence enters a young couple’s home.

The story follows Kelvin and Amara, a young couple who have been married for just about eight months.

At the beginning of their marriage, life appears calm and happy, with both partners adjusting to their new roles and building their home together.

However, the peace is disrupted when Kelvin’s father unexpectedly arrives to stay with them. His arrival marks the beginning of serious tension in the household.

Kelvin’s father is portrayed as a strict, traditional, and highly demanding man who believes his authority should be respected without question.

From the moment he settles in, he begins to interfere in their marriage, especially targeting Amara. One of the earliest points of conflict arises when he discovers that Kelvin has purchased a brand-new car for his wife.

Rather than seeing it as a gesture of love between husband and wife, the father interprets it as disrespect toward him. He becomes bitter, claiming he sacrificed so much to raise Kelvin, yet now has to rely on public transport while his son buys luxury items for his wife.

The tension in the home deepens as the father constantly criticizes Amara. He mocks her cooking, questions her behavior, and accuses her of being lazy.

His most hurtful attacks revolve around her inability to get pregnant within a short time, eventually insulting her and referring to her as “barren.” These repeated insults create emotional distress for Amara and widen the gap between her and Kelvin, who remains mostly passive in handling his father.

Feeling isolated and emotionally overwhelmed, Amara decides to reach out to her own mother for support. Her mother arrives with strong protective instincts, ready to defend her daughter.

This leads to a clash between both families under the same roof. What follows are intense, dramatic, and sometimes comedic exchanges between Amara’s mother and Kelvin’s father, as both sides struggle to assert dominance and protect their children’s interests. The household becomes increasingly unstable, filled with arguments, pride, and emotional outbursts.

As the pressure continues to build, Amara reaches her breaking point. She confronts Kelvin, expressing her frustration over his inability to stand up to his father.

Feeling unprotected and disrespected in her own marriage, she delivers an ultimatum: “Your father or me.” Shortly after this emotional confrontation, she leaves the home, leaving Kelvin devastated and alone in a deeply divided household.

Her departure forces Kelvin to reflect on the situation more seriously. For the first time, he begins to see the damage his father’s behavior has caused, not only to his marriage but also to his household peace.

In a powerful moment of realization, he confronts his father, accusing him of repeating the same toxic behavior that once broke his late mother emotionally during her lifetime.

Kelvin eventually takes a firm stand by giving both parents a three-day notice to leave his home, warning that he will involve the authorities if they refuse to comply. Shocked by his decision, both parents quietly leave before the deadline to avoid public embarrassment.

With the house finally empty and peaceful, Amara returns. The couple reconciles and openly discusses their mistakes and misunderstandings.

They agree to prioritize their marriage above external interference. In a lighthearted ending, they jokingly vow to keep their home free from unnecessary family interference “forever.”

The film closes on a message about boundaries in marriage, the dangers of unchecked pa

rental control, and the importance of unity between spouses.
