Loving Children Made Me Rethink Having Kids - Nancy Isime

Actress and television personality Nancy Isime has opened up about her thoughts on parenthood, revealing that her deep affection for children has, at times, made her question whether bringing them into the world is truly the best decision.

Speaking during a recent conversation, the media star explained that her perspective is not rooted in a dislike for children. Instead, she said it comes from observing the many hardships people face daily and wondering if it is fair to knowingly introduce a child to such realities.

Sharing her honest opinion, she said, “You know the craziest thing about loving children? I feel like if you really love children, you wouldn’t want to bring them into the world.”

The actress went on to describe life as a difficult journey, saying people constantly battle different forms of pressure, disappointment and hardship. 

She suggested that anyone who has experienced these realities would understand why some people hesitate before deciding to have children.

“Are you not suffering today? Have you not seen shege today? Is earth not ghetto? Are you not going through a lot? Don’t you wish some days that you were not born?” she asked.

Her comments quickly sparked conversations on social media, with many Nigerians expressing different opinions. 

While some agreed that the current economic and social realities make raising children more challenging than ever, others argued that parenthood remains one of life's greatest blessings despite its difficulties.

Responding to a follow-up question about whether her views mean she intends to remain child-free, Isime clarified that she does not believe anyone is exempt from life's challenges.

 According to her, suffering is a universal part of the human experience, regardless of whether a person is born into privilege or hardship.

“No, everybody has to suffer. They will come and suffer their own. They’re not going to escape it,” she said.
