Service of Songs is currently ongoing in Lagos in honour of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, as family, friends and colleagues gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
While the service of songs is ongoing today 10th of June, the actor is scheduled to be laid to rest on June 18, 2026, in Arochukwu, Abia State, according to arrangements announced by his family. The final burial rites will follow a series of funeral activities organised in his honour,
The gathering comes weeks after the actor’s death on May 11, 2026, a development that sent shockwaves across the Nigerian entertainment industry and sparked widespread tributes from fans and colleagues.
Born in 1986, Alexx Ekubo began his career in Nollywood in the mid-2000s, starting out with minor roles before gradually rising into leading-man status in romantic and contemporary drama films. His breakthrough in public attention came after finishing as first runner-up at the 2010 Mr. Nigeria competition, which boosted his visibility in modelling and entertainment.
Over the years, he became one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces, combining acting with modelling and brand influencing. He featured in several popular productions that helped define a new wave of romantic storytelling in the industry.
At the ongoing Service of Songs, prayers, hymns and tributes are being offered in his honour, as loved ones reflect on his career, personality and impact on the entertainment space. Many describe him as a vibrant screen presence whose work connected strongly with audiences.
