Award-winning filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has brought his acclaimed thriller The CEO to YouTube, giving audiences around the world another opportunity to watch one of Nollywood's most talked-about productions.

The film, originally released in 2016, is now available on his KAP Stream YouTube channel as part of his ongoing effort to make more of his classic works easily accessible to fans.

Announcing the release on Thursday through his Instagram page, Afolayan reflected on the film's remarkable journey and the groundbreaking milestone it achieved a decade ago.

He recalled that The CEO became the first Nigerian movie to premiere aboard a commercial flight, describing the event as a bold innovation that demonstrated how creative partnerships could transform film marketing.

The unforgettable premiere took place aboard an Air France flight travelling from Lagos to Paris, allowing passengers to witness the movie before its official public release.

According to Afolayan, the unique screening showed that Nollywood productions could be promoted in unconventional ways while attracting international attention.

The filmmaker noted that even after ten years, The CEO remains one of the projects that proved Nigerian stories could compete on the global stage.

He encouraged viewers to stream the film on YouTube, saying the platform offers a new generation of audiences the chance to experience the mystery thriller.

Written by Tunde Babalola and directed by Afolayan, The CEO features a strong cast drawn from different parts of Africa. The movie stars Grammy-winning singer Angélique Kidjo, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Wale Ojo, Kemi Lala Akindoju and Hilda Dokubo, among others.

The story revolves around five senior executives representing different African countries who gather at an exclusive leadership retreat.

Each participant hopes to become the next chief executive of their organisation, but the competition takes a deadly turn when mysterious killings begin to occur. As suspicion spreads through the group, hidden secrets emerge and everyone becomes a potential suspect.

Following its memorable in-flight debut, The CEO later premiered in Lagos before travelling to several international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, where it further showcased Nollywood's growing global appeal.

The YouTube release is part of a broader strategy by Afolayan to preserve and extend the lifespan of his productions. In recent months, the filmmaker has uploaded several of his older titles to his KAP Stream channel after some licensing agreements with streaming platforms came to an end.

By embracing YouTube, Afolayan is ensuring that viewers across different countries can watch his films without geographical restrictions while introducing his earlier works to younger audiences who may have missed their original release.

The move also highlights how digital platforms have become valuable tools for filmmakers seeking to expand their reach, reconnect with loyal fans and keep celebrated Nollywood productions relevant years after their cinema debut.
