Nollywood actress Judy Austin has publicly responded to fresh allegations made by her estranged husband, Emmanuel Obasi, challenging his claims about the timeline of her personal life and relationship history with actor Yul Edochie.

The dispute resurfaced after Obasi made comments during an appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, where he suggested that Judy Austin had shown interest in Yul Edochie while still legally married to him. He also alleged that she had once inquired about Edochie and claimed the actor promised to help advance her career and provide financial support.

In a strongly worded response shared via Instagram, Judy Austin dismissed the allegations as false and damaging, insisting that her marriage to Obasi ended in 2012 and not 2013 as he previously stated.

She further clarified that her first professional encounter with Yul Edochie occurred in 2016 on a movie set, stressing that this was several years after her marriage had already ended.

“I met Chief Yul Edochie on a movie set in 2016 for the very first time,” she said, adding that she had no involvement in acting until she was encouraged to consider the profession years after her separation.

According to her, she was introduced to filmmaking through encouragement from filmmaker Sebastian Madu in 2013, but maintained that her path only properly began after her marriage had already dissolved.

Austin also accused her former husband of attempting to distort facts and damage her reputation, stating that he would be required to defend his claims in court.

She insisted that public allegations must be backed by evidence, warning that she was prepared to pursue legal action if necessary.

“The court of law is where you have to defend everything you’ve ever said beyond a reasonable doubt,” she said, maintaining that she met Edochie long after her separation.

The actress also addressed accusations that she had restricted Obasi from seeing their children, firmly denying the claim.

She explained that the children initially lived with her parents for several years before she later relocated them to Enugu in 2018.

“For the record, I have never restricted his access to see his kids,” she stated, adding that the children’s living arrangements were made in their best interest at the time.

Austin also used the opportunity to defend Yul Edochie, crediting him for supporting her family emotionally and financially.

She described him as a responsible figure in the lives of her children, noting his contributions toward their welfare, education, and general upkeep.

“He has helped me to be a father figure in their lives. He put the roof over their heads, paid their school fees, fed them,” she said.

She further criticised ongoing public attacks against Edochie, urging caution in how narratives are shaped around personal matters involving families.

Obasi, on his part, had previously alleged in 2024 that he was denied access to his children for nearly a decade, a claim that further deepened tensions between both parties.

The latest exchange adds another layer to the long-running dispute, which has continued to generate public attention and debate across social media platforms.

As of now, neither Obasi nor his representatives have issued a response to Judy Austin’s latest statements.
