Nollywood actress and producer Jaiye Kuti has another reason to celebrate as her latest cinema project, Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary, continues to enjoy a strong run at the Nigerian box office.

The film has now generated more than ₦20.7 million in ticket sales, marking a significant achievement for the actress and her production team.

The milestone was announced on social media through a joint post with the movie’s distributor, Nile Entertainment, which expressed gratitude to movie lovers across the country for their support since the film’s release.

The producers described the response from audiences as overwhelming, noting that cinema-goers have continued to show interest in the film weeks after its debut.

They also encouraged those who have not yet seen the movie to visit cinemas while it remains on the big screen.

Released on May 22, Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary is directed by filmmaker Oluwale Adebayo. The movie explores themes of love, destiny, sacrifice and spirituality, telling the story of two individuals whose lives become connected through an ancient covenant that influences their future in unexpected ways.

The film boasts an impressive cast made up of some of Nollywood’s most recognised faces. Popular Fuji musician and actor Wasiu Alabi Pasuma plays a major role in the project alongside Femi Adebayo, Bimbo Oshin, Faithia Williams, Antar Laniyan and Ibrahim Yekini.

Social media personality and actress Maryam Apaokagi-Greene, popularly known as Taaooma, also features in the production.

The latest box office success adds to what has been a remarkable period for Jaiye Kuti, who has steadily built a reputation as one of the industry's respected filmmakers. Her productions have consistently attracted audiences, particularly among fans of Yoruba-language cinema.

Industry observers say the performance of Jayeola Monje: The Anniversary reflects the growing appetite for locally produced stories that combine culture, tradition and entertainment.

In recent years, Nigerian audiences have increasingly embraced indigenous films, helping them compete more effectively in cinemas.

The achievement is also another positive sign for the Nigerian film industry, which has recorded several box office successes in recent months.

Strong cinema attendance and audience engagement continue to demonstrate the commercial potential of homegrown productions.

With the film still showing in cinemas nationwide, industry analysts believe its earnings could continue to rise in the coming weeks.

For Jaiye Kuti and her team, surpassing the ₦20 million mark is a significant milestone that highlights both the appeal of the film and the loyalty of Nigerian movie audiences.

As the movie continues its theatrical run, expectations remain high that it could achieve even greater success before leaving cinemas.
