New allegations have surfaced following the death of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo after a man identified as Clinton Ekubo, who described himself as a relative of the actor, publicly raised concerns over how events surrounding the actor’s illness, death and burial were handled.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Clinton alleged that Alex’s stepmother played a dominant role in major decisions affecting the actor’s personal life and funeral arrangements while excluding members of the wider family.
His comments come amid ongoing conversations and reactions following the actor’s burial.
According to Clinton, several members of the extended family were unaware of developments in Alex’s personal affairs and only learned certain details after events had already unfolded.
He further claimed that decisions concerning the late actor’s private life were allegedly made without wider consultation within the family structure.
Among the allegations made, Clinton claimed that the family had no prior knowledge of what he described as a marriage arrangement allegedly facilitated by the actor’s stepmother.
He also alleged that over time, Alex became increasingly distant from relatives on his father’s side of the family and developed stronger connections with his stepmother’s relatives.
“Honestly speaking, my brother David Ekubo and my sister Ify Ekubo were right in their write-up,” he wrote.
Clinton also questioned what he described as a lack of information shared with relatives regarding Alex’s health before his passing.
According to him, family members were not informed that the actor had been seriously ill and only became aware after news of his death had already entered the public space.
“Alex Ekubo was sick; nobody knew till his death. He died, and the family didn’t know that our son was sick and dead till it was announced to the public by his stepmother,” he alleged.
The post further raised concerns about the pace at which funeral arrangements were organised.
Clinton suggested that immediate and extended family members had limited participation in decisions relating to the burial process.
He also claimed that after personally seeing the actor’s body, he observed details that left him with unanswered questions.
According to him, certain physical observations remained unexplained and contributed to his concerns.
“Nobody is explaining what really happened to our son. How come there is a blood clot in his eyes? Is the blood clot on his eyes part of the cancer also?” he wrote.
Clinton additionally claimed that information available to relatives suggested the actor had arrived at the hospital deceased, describing the sequence of events as shocking to members of the family.
Despite raising questions publicly, he insisted that his comments were not connected to inheritance matters or attempts to gain access to any assets.
He maintained that his intention was to seek clarification and transparency regarding circumstances surrounding the actor’s final days.
“Please note that I am not writing this to chase anything, but just for clarity’s sake. Please remove properties from this. The Ekubo Okwareke family demand an explanation for her son since she could not explain to us indoors,” he stated.
As of the time of this report, neither Alex Ekubo’s stepmother nor any official representative of the late actor’s family had publicly responded to the allegations.
The claims remain allegations and have not been independently verified.
Alex Ekubo’s passing continues to generate reactions within the entertainment industry and among fans, with many remembering his contributions to Nollywood while awaiting further clarity regarding the issues raised.
