Media personality Daniel Regha has said Babcock University should consider taking legal action against content creator Carter Efe after the institution publicly disowned the graduation certificate he shared online.
The controversy began after Carter Efe posted what he claimed was his Babcock University certificate while defending his academic credentials in the wake of rapper Ycee's "Olodo uprising" comments. In the post, the streamer claimed he studied Biochemistry, graduated with a First Class and finished as the best graduating student in his set.
Not long after, Babcock University released a statement distancing itself from the document. According to the institution, the certificate circulating online is fake, unauthorized and was not issued by the university.
Reacting to the development, Daniel Regha said the matter should not be brushed aside as entertainment if the document was indeed forged.
"Babcock University should sue Carter Efe for forging a result (if true); That's a punishable offense and its about time we as a society start taking things serious. Everything can't be permitted as cruise or content, such acts adds to our problems," he wrote.
Regha added that if the certificate is confirmed to have been forged, there should be consequences, arguing that treating such issues as harmless content only encourages misconduct.
The university's statement has added a new twist to the issue, with attention now shifting to Carter Efe's response. At the time of filing this report, the content creator had not publicly reacted to Babcock's claim that the certificate did not originate from the institution.
