Public reactions have continued to trail gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori’s recent apology over comments she made regarding insecurity in Nigeria, with comedian DeeOne advising her against repeating such a move in the future.

The gospel singer had sparked conversations online after making remarks that were interpreted differently by audiences across social media platforms. While some listeners felt her comments reflected concern over the country’s security situation, others criticized the delivery and broader implications, leading to heated debates within both entertainment and religious circles.

In response to the growing criticism, Alaseyori released a video apologizing for her earlier statement. However, the apology itself quickly became a subject of further discussion, as opinions remained divided on whether it was necessary or influenced by public pressure.

Reacting to the development, DeeOne addressed the situation in strong terms, expressing his belief that the gospel singer should have stood by her initial position.

“Mrs. Yinka Alaseyori, first of all, I want to thank you and thank God for your ministry. God has used you greatly. However, what you did today, please don't ever try it again. There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is destruction,” he said.

He suggested that the singer’s earlier comments were made in what he perceived as a spiritual moment, and argued that withdrawing them through an apology may have diluted their impact.

“You were in the Spirit when you said those things and asked people to pray. I want to believe it was God speaking through you, but you lost an opportunity to evangelize to the world,” he added.

DeeOne went further to question the circumstances surrounding the apology, implying that external criticism may have influenced her decision more than personal conviction.

“I can bet 100% that you did not seek God's face before making that apology video. I believe pressure made you do it. You apologized because people were criticizing you,” he said.

He also raised concerns about how public opinion can affect ministers and public figures, suggesting that decisions should not be driven by fear of rejection or loss of relevance.

“Maybe you were worried that you would no longer be invited to events or that people would stop liking you. But the Bible says, ‘I will lift up my eyes to the hills from where comes my help?’ Not all of us criticizing you will be the ones to feed you,” he added.

According to him, individuals in ministry should be guided primarily by spiritual conviction rather than public sentiment, especially when dealing with sensitive national conversations.

“Was what you said wrong? No. But pressure made you apologize. You chose to displease God in order to please men, and there could be spiritual repercussions. I hope you understand that,” he said.

DeeOne further cautioned against repeating such decisions, adding that those advising her may not have offered the right counsel.

“Please, under no circumstances should you do that again. I don't know who advised you, but whoever did gave you poor advice. I'm sure the hosts of heaven would be disappointed, but God is a forgiving Father,” he stated.

He also referenced gospel minister Testimony Jaga, describing him as an example of boldness in faith expression and unwavering conviction in ministry.

“I'm not trying to praise anyone here, but people like Testimony Jaga remind some of us of how the disciples followed Jesus. Jesus was not gentle; He was rugged,” he concluded.
