Popular Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has announced the postponement of his much-anticipated “AY Live Warri” show, which was originally billed for June 12, 2026. The decision comes at a time when concerns over insecurity continue to dominate public discourse across different parts of the country.
The Warri edition of AY Live had been building strong anticipation among fans, with expectations of a major turnout typical of the comedian’s annual comedy concerts. However, in a public statement shared through the event’s official page, AY explained that the show would no longer hold on the planned date, stressing that the decision was not taken lightly.
According to him, the current security realities in the country played a major role in the postponement, especially as many families continue to face the trauma of abductions and other violent incidents. He noted that it would be inappropriate to proceed with a large entertainment gathering without acknowledging the pain many Nigerians are currently experiencing.
AY, in his direct statement, said: "At a time when many Nigerians are dealing with the painful effects of insecurity and uncertainty, we believe it is important to stand in solidarity with affected families and prioritise the safety of our audience and supporters."
His message reflects a growing concern within the entertainment industry, where event organizers are increasingly forced to consider security conditions alongside logistics and audience expectations. The organisers of AY Live Warri further clarified that the event has not been cancelled entirely.
