Popular media personality Uti Nwachukwu has emotionally remembered late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo exactly one week after his passing, sharing painful memories of the heartbreaking moment he received the tragic news.
In a touching message posted on social media, Uti revealed that he initially dismissed the reports surrounding Alexx’s death because he believed they were only rumours. According to him, he was joking around when the first message came in and did not immediately take it seriously.
“Today makes it a week. Tuesdays might never be the same again. Goofing around when the first message came. I said, Una never Taya for rumour? Abegee.”
The reality of the situation reportedly hit differently after he received a phone call from someone close to him. Uti explained that he answered the call in his usual playful manner, but instantly sensed something was wrong from the tone of the caller’s voice.
“Then the phone call came, I answered in my playful tone, but my always happy gee's tone was so cold as he said: ‘I don't have good news for you’.”
The media personality further opened up on the emotional moments that followed, revealing that another call confirmed the devastating news while he rushed to the hospital. He admitted that the pain has continued to come in waves and that he is still struggling to accept the painful reality.
“I will never forget the second confirmatory phone call as I raced to the hospital. The p4in comes and goes in waves now, and I still can't get myself to say goodbye.”
Uti also offered prayers for Alexx Ekubo’s family, friends and everyone grieving the actor’s passing, asking God to grant them strength during the difficult period.
“I pray God consoles all your loved ones and gives us the fortitude we all need.”
Since news of Alexx Ekubo’s death became public, tributes have continued to pour in from fans, colleagues and friends within the entertainment industry, many describing him as talented, lively and deeply loved by those around him.
