Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has once again brought attention to his ongoing disagreement with Nigerian music star Wizkid, making it clear that the matter between them remains unresolved and, from his tone, unlikely to be revisited in a reconciliatory direction anytime soon.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Selah Meditate, Seun was asked whether the tension between him and Wizkid had been settled behind the scenes or through any form of private understanding. His response was immediate and dismissive, signaling that there has been no closure between both parties.
“No, what are you talking about? Please let’s move on, I don’t want to talk about that,” he said, choosing not to engage further on the subject at first.
Despite his initial reluctance to expand on the issue, Seun eventually addressed the reason behind his firm stance. According to him, the disagreement is rooted in comments he believes were made about his father, the iconic Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, whose legacy continues to influence Nigerian and global music culture.
He explained that the situation is not something he can easily separate from personal feelings or overlook as a casual industry misunderstanding. For him, it touches on respect for family history and legacy, which he considers deeply important.
“My grudge for Wizkid is on for life because you don’t say things about my dad and think it’s fine. No, there is no coming back from that,” he stated firmly.
His words indicate a strong emotional boundary that he believes has already been crossed, leaving little or no room for reconciliation in his view. While public disputes among entertainers often fade with time or are resolved privately, Seun’s comments suggest this particular case stands on a different level for him.
