Israel Afeare, popularly known as Israel DMW, has openly ruled out supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, while also downplaying the influence of social media in determining electoral outcomes in Nigeria.

The aide to Afrobeats superstar Davido made his position known in a post shared on his Instagram page, where he discussed how elections are actually won in the country.

According to him, many Nigerians mistakenly believe that online conversations, trends, and public sentiment on social media platforms can influence official election results. He argued instead that the real determinant of victory remains the number of votes cast on election day.

Israel wrote that popularity online does not translate into political power at the ballot box, stressing that only physical votes count when results are being calculated.

“Winning an election in Nigeria isn’t by popular opinions on social media. It is by the highest votes cast on an election day,” he stated.

His comment appeared to be a response to ongoing political discussions online, where supporters of various parties often engage in heated debates, especially ahead of elections. Over the years, social media has played a major role in shaping political narratives in Nigeria, but Israel insisted that such influence should not be mistaken for electoral strength.

Beyond his general observation about the political process, Israel DMW also made a strong personal declaration about his political preference going into the 2027 elections.

He stated clearly that he would not support the ruling APC, adding that his decision is final regardless of political developments in the coming years.

In his words, he expressed frustration with the party in a blunt and informal statement that quickly drew attention online.

“I would rather pick a waybill for a friend in Warri than vote for APC in 2027. Nonsense,” he wrote.

The comment has since triggered widespread reactions across social media, with Nigerians divided over his statement. While some users supported his right to express his political opinion, others criticized the tone of his message, arguing that public figures should be more measured when discussing sensitive political topics.

Israel DMW is known for his outspoken personality and frequent commentary on social media, particularly on issues relating to lifestyle, entertainment, and occasionally politics. His latest remarks have once again placed him at the center of online debate.

Political discussions in Nigeria have intensified as the country gradually approaches the 2027 general elections, with various public figures, entertainers, and influencers increasingly weighing in on national issues. Social media platforms continue to serve as major spaces for political expression, mobilization, and criticism.

However, Israel’s comments highlight a recurring debate in Nigerian politics: whether online influence can truly translate into real-life political change. While digital activism has grown significantly in recent years, especially among young Nigerians, critics argue that voter turnout and ground-level political structures remain the most decisive factors in elections.

Despite the backlash and mixed reactions, Israel DMW has not withdrawn or clarified his statement. Instead, his post continues to circulate widely, further fueling discussions about political loyalty, voter behavior, and the role of celebrities and influencers in shaping public opinion ahead of elections.

As conversations around 2027 begin to build momentum, remarks like his are expected to keep generating debate across both political and entertainment spaces in Nigeria.
