The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially released details of his funeral programme following his reported death after a battle with kidney cancer.
According to information shared through the actor’s official Instagram page on Monday, burial activities for the movie star will run through June 2026 and conclude with his interment on June 18.
The actor was said to have passed away on May 11, a development that sparked widespread grief across the Nigerian entertainment industry and among fans on social media.
In the obituary notice announcing the funeral arrangements, the family appealed to friends, colleagues, supporters, and the general public to keep Ekubo’s wife and loved ones in their prayers during the difficult period.
The statement described the period as one of mourning and reflection while appreciating those who have shown support to the family since news of the actor’s death became public.
According to the schedule released, the first major event in honour of the late actor will be a service of songs slated for Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
The ceremony is expected to hold at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos, between 4pm and 6pm.
Family members requested that guests attending the event appear in white attire as part of the tribute to the late actor.
The service of songs is expected to attract colleagues from the Nollywood industry, close friends, associates, and fans who admired Ekubo throughout his acting career.
Following the Lagos ceremony, activities will move to Abia State, where the actor’s family home is located.
The wake-keep ceremony has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at the family residence situated at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
Residents of the community, relatives, and well-wishers are expected to gather to pay their final respects ahead of the burial service.
The final funeral rites will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
According to the family, the church funeral service will hold at Mary Slessor School in Arochukwu before the late actor is laid to rest at the family compound.
A reception is also expected to follow immediately after the interment at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village.
Guests attending the burial and reception have also been encouraged to wear white clothing in line with the family’s preferred dress code for the ceremonies.
Since reports of his passing surfaced, tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues within Nollywood and admirers across the country.
Ekubo was widely known for his charming screen presence, fashion style, and roles in several successful Nollywood productions.
Over the years, he built a strong fan base and became one of the most recognisable faces in the Nigerian film industry.
