Social media influencer and content creator Enioluwa Adeoluwa has launched a N3 million essay competition targeted at students in public secondary schools across Ekiti State.
The initiative, unveiled on Monday, is part of efforts aimed at promoting literacy, critical thinking and educational development among young people in the state.
The competition, known as the Professor Femi Adeoluwa Essay Prize, was announced through a post shared on Enioluwa’s X page.
According to him, the project is being organised in partnership with Eni’s Book Club, a reading and literacy community focused on encouraging a stronger reading culture among Nigerian youths.
The essay competition will focus on the topic, “Education beyond the classroom: what should young people be taught that schools currently ignore.”
Through the topic, participants are expected to examine important life lessons and practical knowledge that are often absent from the traditional school curriculum.
The initiative is designed to encourage students to think beyond textbooks and express their ideas on areas such as leadership, emotional intelligence, financial literacy, creativity and personal development.
Enioluwa revealed that winners of the competition would receive cash prizes worth millions of naira. The student who emerges in first position will receive N1.5 million, while the second-place winner will go home with N1 million. The third-place winner will receive N500,000.
Speaking about the initiative, the influencer expressed excitement over bringing the programme directly to public secondary schools in Ekiti State.
He described the project as a major educational step that aligns with the goals of his book club in promoting reading and intellectual engagement among young Nigerians.
According to him, the essay prize is also a tribute to his father, Professor Femi Adeoluwa, whose contributions to education and academic development have been widely recognised over the years.
The influencer noted that the competition reflects values of learning, knowledge and youth empowerment which his father has consistently represented.
Although the official commencement date and application process have not yet been announced, the initiative has already generated positive reactions online, with many praising Enioluwa for investing in education and creating opportunities for students in public schools.
In recent years, Enioluwa has consistently shown interest in educational advocacy through his reading campaigns and youth-focused projects. In 2025, he also spoke publicly about his father’s contributions to educational development in Ekiti State, particularly his involvement in the transformation of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, into the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology.
The announcement adds to the growing number of celebrity-driven educational initiatives in Nigeria aimed at supporting young talents and encouraging academic excellence.
Many supporters believe the essay competition will not only reward brilliance but also inspire students to develop stronger communication and analytical skills.
With the initiative set to reach students across Ekiti State, expectations are high that the programme will encourage meaningful conversations around the future of education and the importance of learning beyond the classroom environment.
