Nollywood actress Scarlet Gomez has opened up about her journey in the film industry, offering reflections on her growth, the realities of film distribution, and the values that have shaped her career.
Looking back on her progress, Gomez expressed gratitude for how her career has unfolded, describing her success as a product of patience and timing. According to her, the journey has not been an easy one, but she believes everything has happened at the right moment.
“I am grateful; that’s all I can say. Everyone who knows my journey understands it has been a long time coming. I believe God makes everything perfect in His time, and this is just my time,” she said.

“Maybe, maybe not. I don’t know,” she stated.

“Hard work pays. God always comes through; He never makes mistakes. Respect and humility matter. By respect, I don’t mean based on age alone; everyone deserves to be treated with respect. All those things count,” she explained.
Speaking on the evolving nature of Nollywood, Gomez addressed the growing conversation around cinema releases and film distribution. While she acknowledged the importance of expanding cinema culture in Nigeria, she maintained that not every film is suited for the big screen.
“It would be nice to have more films in cinemas because it will help grow the culture. But, I don’t believe all films should go to the cinema. It depends on the filmmaker. If your budget can carry a cinema release, that’s fine; if it’s YouTube, so be it,” she said.
Her comments reflect a broader shift within Nollywood, where filmmakers are increasingly exploring multiple distribution channels, including streaming platforms and digital releases. Gomez’s perspective highlights the need for filmmakers to make strategic decisions based on their resources and target audience rather than following trends.

“Believe in yourself, put God first, and work hard,” she advised.
