Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh and talent manager Ubi Franklin have stepped in to support a Nigerian woman whose story recently went viral after she revealed that she and her family moved into an uncompleted building to escape the burden of rent.
The woman, identified as Asiwaju Bunmi Joy, gained attention online after sharing a video explaining her family’s difficult living conditions. In the clip, she disclosed that relocating to the unfinished house was a necessary decision due to financial constraints, a move that quickly drew sympathy and concern from many Nigerians.
Reacting to the viral video, Franklin publicly expressed his willingness to assist and immediately called for help in locating the woman. He revealed that she would become the first beneficiary of his planned birthday outreach initiative.
“I need her details, she will be the first beneficiary of my 40million 40th Birthday present to 40 people, that’s 1million each.
Find her for me, and I’ll credit her 1m”.
Shortly after Franklin’s announcement, Dikeh also shared her own reaction, describing a deeply personal moment that led her to support the woman. According to the actress, she felt a strong spiritual prompting to help someone, which became clearer after she came across the viral video.
“This morning, as I woke up, the Holy Spirit nudged me to help someone. I smiled because, if you know me, you know that giving, serving, and finding ways to uplift others are already part of who I am on a daily basis.
But this time felt different; it wasn’t general. It was specific.
Then I came across this video, and in that moment, the conviction was clear: ‘She is the one I want you to bless.’
So, my dear ones, I need your help to reach her. I would love to gift her ₦1,000,000 as support toward completing her home. I also have friends who are willing to contribute anonymously to make this even more impactful.
Thank you to every blog that shared this video and helped bring her story to light.
Happy Easter once again to her and you all”.
The actress’s gesture adds to her long-standing reputation for philanthropy and humanitarian work. Over the years, Dikeh has consistently been involved in charitable initiatives aimed at improving the lives of individuals and communities across Nigeria.
Just recently, she revisited a school where she previously held an outreach programme and donated 10 laptops to three different schools, describing the gesture as an investment in the future of students and their communities.
Within the same period, she also fulfilled a promise to sponsor a junior secondary school student through to university level. In addition to covering his educational expenses, she provided him with school essentials and supported his father with a sum of N1,000,000 to start a business that would help sustain the family.
In another initiative, Dikeh announced a programme to sponsor free JAMB registrations for 1,000 students, targeting beneficiaries in Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Abuja. Her commitment to education and youth empowerment has remained a consistent theme in her outreach efforts.
Her past acts of kindness also include providing prosthetic limbs for amputees and distributing food items, financial aid, and other essentials to widows and elderly individuals during festive seasons. She has also previously sponsored the education of hundreds of Nigerian students, emphasizing her belief that every child deserves access to learning opportunities.
The recent intervention by both Dikeh and Franklin has sparked positive reactions online, with many praising their generosity and willingness to act swiftly in response to the woman’s situation.
As efforts continue to locate Asiwaju Bunmi Joy, many Nigerians remain hopeful that the combined support from both public figures—and others who may join in—will significantly improve her living conditions and help her complete her home.
