Six-Month EFCC Investigation Into Pastor Jerry Eze Ends in Unexpected Twist

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has opened up on a discreet but extensive investigation that was carried out into allegations involving popular Nigerian cleric, Pastor Jerry Eze, revealing that the matter was pursued for several months before being concluded without any evidence of wrongdoing.

Speaking on the agency’s handling of sensitive cases involving public figures, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, disclosed that the commission spent about six months reviewing claims linked to alleged financial misconduct involving Jerry Eze.

 The EFCC boss explained that the investigation was thorough and carefully handled due to the nature of the allegations and the public attention surrounding the cleric.

He stated clearly, “I investigated Pastor Jerry Eze for six months for money laund3ring and later called him to commend him.” 

The statement has since drawn wide attention, as it confirms not only that the probe took place but also that it ended on a positive note for the cleric.

According to Olukoyede, the EFCC’s approach in such matters is always guided by facts and evidence rather than public perception or social media narratives. He noted that the investigation was initiated to ensure that all concerns raised were properly examined, especially given the scale of influence and financial activity often associated with large ministries.

The conclusion of the case, as explained by the EFCC chairman, showed that no evidence of money laundering or financial impropriety was established during the period of review. Following the outcome, he reportedly reached out to Pastor Jerry Eze to acknowledge the findings after the commission completed its assessment.

Pastor Jerry Eze, who is widely known for his online prayer platform and growing global audience, has in recent years become one of the most visible religious figures in Nigeria’s digital ministry space.
