Veteran Nigerian actor and broadcaster Segun Arinze has led a delegation of the Association of Voice Over Artistes (AVOA) on a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, in Lagos.

The visit, which was shared on AVOA’s official Instagram page, brought together key members of the association and top officials in Nigeria’s advertising regulatory space for discussions around the future of the voice-over industry in the country.

According to the association, the engagement was aimed at strengthening the relationship between voice-over professionals and the regulatory body, while also addressing key challenges and opportunities within the creative sector.

During the meeting, conversations reportedly focused on several pressing issues affecting the industry. These included the rapid rise of artificial intelligence in content production, concerns around intellectual property protection, advertising compliance in the digital space, and the need for structural reforms that would benefit practitioners.

The delegation also used the opportunity to highlight the importance of creating more opportunities for young and emerging voice-over talents in Nigeria.

They emphasized the need for training, mentorship, and stronger industry frameworks that would ensure sustainable growth for the profession.

ARCON, as Nigeria’s apex advertising regulatory body, plays a key role in ensuring that advertising content across media platforms meets established ethical and legal standards.

The agency is also responsible for overseeing compliance within the country’s evolving advertising ecosystem, particularly as digital media continues to expand.

Segun Arinze, who currently serves as president of AVOA, has been at the forefront of advocating for improved recognition and welfare for voice-over artistes in Nigeria. He was re-elected for a second term in May 2025 after first assuming leadership of the association in 2021.

Under his leadership, AVOA has continued to push for better industry standards, increased professional development opportunities, and stronger engagement with relevant regulatory authorities.

The association itself represents a growing community of voice-over practitioners across Nigeria. It serves as a platform for advocacy, capacity building, and collaboration among professionals in the field, while also working to ensure that members’ rights and interests are protected.

The visit to ARCON is seen as part of ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between creative industry stakeholders and government regulatory bodies, especially at a time when digital transformation is reshaping advertising and content production globally.

Industry observers note that discussions around artificial intelligence and digital compliance are becoming increasingly important, as creators seek to balance innovation with intellectual property protection and fair usage policies.

The engagement is expected to pave the way for further dialogue between AVOA and ARCON in the coming months as both parties explore strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s advertising and voice-over ecosystem.
