However, while the intention feels ambitious, the execution leaves viewers searching for clarity.

A Promising Start With A Spiritual Foundation

At the beginning, the storyline appears relatively straightforward. We are introduced to Demilade, a character whose life takes a significant turn after receiving an invitation to a fellowship. In what seems like a defining moment, he gives his life to Christ—an act that should mark the beginning of a new journey filled with purpose and growth.

But instead of peace or stability, things quickly spiral.

Shortly after his decision, Demilade’s life begins to fall apart in ways that feel sudden and overwhelming. This shift creates an immediate sense of tension and curiosity. Naturally, the audience begins to ask: is this a test of faith, a spiritual battle, or something deeper?

Blurred Lines Between Reality And Illusion

As the story progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult to separate reality from illusion. Certain events unfold with a dreamlike quality, making it unclear whether what we are witnessing is real or symbolic.

The narrative also introduces characters like Nnamdi, whose presence feels significant but ultimately unexplained. His role in Demilade’s journey is ambiguous, and by the end of the film, viewers are left wondering why he was included at all.

An Ending That Raises More Questions

If there is one thing Altar Call succeeds in doing, it is sparking curiosity. However, curiosity without resolution can be frustrating.

The decision to frame much of the story as a dream weakens several potential interpretations. Dreams can be powerful storytelling tools, but in this case, they blur the message instead of sharpening it.
