Veteran Nollywood actor Kola Oyewo has opened up about the health challenges that have significantly affected his acting career, revealing that he is no longer able to perform at the level he once did.

Speaking during a conversation with Kunle Afod, the respected actor reflected on his journey in the film industry and how illness has gradually limited his physical strength and mobility on set.

Oyewo recalled a time when he could move freely and fully embody his roles without difficulty. According to him, those days have changed, as his current condition has made it harder to take on demanding roles or maintain the same level of energy required for acting.

He explained that his health declined after undergoing surgery, which left him physically weaker. Combined with the natural effects of aging, the situation has further slowed him down. Despite these challenges, the actor expressed gratitude, noting that health outcomes vary from person to person.

The veteran also shared details of his treatment journey, revealing that he was initially referred to a hospital in Akure. However, he chose not to continue treatment there after becoming concerned about who would care for him during his stay. Instead, he returned home and sought medical attention from his personal doctor, who took over his treatment.

According to Oyewo, his health issues began with frequent urination, a condition that disrupted his sleep and daily routine. He disclosed that the situation became so severe that he sometimes struggled to control it before reaching the restroom, adding to his discomfort.

After undergoing several medical tests, he was diagnosed with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, commonly known as an enlarged prostate. The condition, which is more common among older men, has continued to impact both his personal life and professional career.

Despite the difficulties, Oyewo remains appreciative of life and continues to stay positive about his situation. His revelation sheds light on the often-unseen health struggles faced by aging actors and the realities of maintaining a career in the entertainment industry while dealing with medical challenges.

His story has also sparked conversations about the importance of health awareness and support for veteran entertainers who have contributed significantly to the growth of Nollywood over the years.
