Easter has brought a deep sense of loss for Kehinde Adebodu, who is navigating the holiday without his twin brother and musical partner, Taiwo “Taiye” Adegbodu.

In a moving post, he shared, “I am broken, my very first Easter celebration without you Amole Mi.” The message conveys the profound grief of losing not only a sibling but a lifelong companion and collaborator.

For over twenty years, Kehinde and Taiye performed together as the gospel duo known as the Adegbodu Twins. Their music, combining English and Yoruba, resonated in churches across Nigeria, inspiring worshippers and spreading messages of faith and hope. Beyond the stage, the twins shared an unbreakable bond, supporting each other in both life and ministry.

The sudden passing of Taiye was announced on March 1, 2026, leaving friends, family, and fans in shock. According to Kehinde, Taiye had appeared healthy and cheerful that day, but late in the evening he complained of chest pain and collapsed. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and the loss was felt immediately across the gospel music community.

In the days following the announcement, Kehinde apologized for not speaking publicly sooner. He explained that the shock of losing his twin so unexpectedly made it difficult to find the words and face the public. The time he took before speaking out allowed him to process the emotional weight of the tragedy while reflecting on the shared memories and achievements with his brother.

Easter, a season often associated with joy, family gatherings, and renewal, has instead become a moment for Kehinde to honor the memory of his brother and grapple with the void left by his absence. His message captures the enduring love and connection between the twins, as well as the challenge of moving forward after such a sudden and personal loss.

While the gospel community mourns the passing of Taiye, Kehinde’s words stand as a testament to their unique partnership and the legacy they created together. Through both music and life, Taiye’s presence will continue to resonate with those who admired the duo’s talent and the bond that defined them.
