Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, widely known by his stage name Aki, has opened up about the earliest chapter of his long-standing relationship with fellow actor Osita Iheme, popularly called Pawpaw. 

He shared the experience during a recent interview, where he reflected on how their paths first crossed and how that moment eventually shaped one of the most recognizable comic partnerships in African cinema.

Speaking with a calm sense of nostalgia, Aki described the first time he met Osita as something that felt natural and unforced. According to him, there was an immediate ease between them, as though their connection had already been written before they formally met.

“From the very first day I met Osita (Pawpaw), I felt instant chemistry. He’s a true introvert who shies away from people,” he said.

Long before that meeting in 2001, Aki explained that he had already been hearing stories about a young man who bore an uncanny resemblance to him. These conversations came from students around his school environment, and they became a regular topic of curiosity among his peers. The idea that someone else existed who looked so similar naturally created anticipation for the day they would eventually meet.

“Before we even met in 2001, students in my school had already been telling me about this guy who looked exactly like me,” he added.

When the two finally came face to face, that earlier curiosity transformed into a real-life connection. What began as a simple introduction gradually evolved into a strong professional relationship, as both actors discovered a shared rhythm that translated seamlessly on screen. Over time, their collaboration became one of the most celebrated in Nollywood, particularly in the comedy genre where their performances left a lasting impression on audiences across Africa and beyond.

Their pairing went on to define an era in Nigerian filmmaking, with Aki and Pawpaw becoming household names whose characters brought humor and relatability to countless productions.
