Nigerian singer Fido has opened up about a major financial milestone in his music career, revealing that he once generated nearly ₦1 billion within a single month.
The artiste, whose real name is Awosika Olayemi Josiah, made the disclosure during a live session with popular content creator Shank. During the conversation, he was asked about the highest amount he had earned in a month since rising to fame.
Responding in pidgin English, Fido said, “Almost a billion naira. Between spending and income, almost a billion naira,” suggesting that the figure included both earnings and expenditures within that period.
Fido gained widespread attention in the Nigerian music scene following the release of his breakout hit Awolowo, a track that significantly boosted his profile and established him as one of the fast-rising acts in Afrobeats. His success continued with subsequent releases, including Joy Is Coming, which further cemented his place in the industry.
At the early stage of his career, the singer was signed to Inner Circle Entertainment, a company that played a role in promoting his music and expanding his reach. However, his journey has not been without challenges.
In 2025, Fido took a significant step forward by securing a partnership between his label, Oosha Records, and global music company EMPIRE. The deal marked a turning point in his career, providing him with broader international exposure and access to a larger distribution network.
Despite these achievements, Fido has also been involved in controversies, particularly regarding his relationship with his former management. In March of the previous year, he publicly accused Inner Circle Entertainment of financial mismanagement, alleging that he did not receive fair compensation for his work.
He later escalated the claims in August 2025, alleging that the company withheld a significant portion of a $20,000 advance tied to his hit track Awolowo. According to him, he received only about ₦1.5 million from the deal, a claim that sparked discussions about transparency and fairness within the music industry.
However, in February, the singer appeared to walk back some of his earlier statements. He issued a public apology, acknowledging that his rapid rise to fame had affected his judgment and led to actions he later regretted.
Fido explained that he was still navigating the pressures that come with newfound success, admitting that some of his reactions were influenced by “ego, excitement and inexperience.” He emphasised that those actions did not reflect the person he aspires to be moving forward.
His latest revelation about earning nearly ₦1 billion in a month highlights both the financial opportunities available in Nigeria’s booming music industry and the intense demands placed on young artistes as they navigate fame, business, and personal growth.
As Fido continues to evolve in his career, his story reflects the highs and lows of rapid success, offering insight into both the rewards and challenges of life in the spotlight.
