Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has once again stirred controversy with strong criticism of Bola Tinubu, describing his administration as deeply disappointing during a recent stage performance in Edo State.

Known for his outspoken stance on political and social issues, the veteran artiste used the moment to express frustration over the current state of the nation, particularly highlighting concerns around insecurity and leadership response to national crises.

During his performance, Abdulkareem referenced the President’s visit to Jos following a recent attack, questioning the effectiveness of the visit and the government’s broader handling of security challenges.

“The commander-In-chief, who has all the security personnel, went to Jos and could not enter the town to console those who lost their loved ones to terrorists,” he said.

The rapper also took aim at Seyi Tinubu over comments in which he described his father as the “best president ever.” Abdulkareem argued that such praise should come from citizens experiencing the impact of governance, not from family members.

“Tinubu is the biggest fraud, and anyone who supports him may Nigeria happen to you. Nine months ago, Seyi entered national TV claiming that his father is the best president. Seyi, if your father is the best president, you are not the one who would tell us; we would be the ones to tell you.

“Seyi, your father is the worst president. If you think you are eating under the APC government and you do not want to talk, may Nigeria happen to you,” he added.

Abdulkareem’s remarks have since sparked reactions across social media, with Nigerians divided over his comments—some supporting his boldness, while others criticised the tone of his statements.

This is not the first time the rapper has openly challenged political figures. Over the years, he has built a reputation for using his music and public appearances to address governance issues and speak on behalf of everyday Nigerians.

In 2024, he released a track titled Emilokan, where he also criticised Enoch Adeboye, calling on religious leaders to be more vocal about national issues.

He followed it up in April 2025 with another controversial song, Tell Your Papa, which directly addressed Seyi Tinubu and urged him to communicate the struggles of Nigerians to his father. The track was later banned by the National Broadcasting Commission over alleged violations of broadcast guidelines.

Abdulkareem’s history of politically charged music dates back to 2004 with his iconic song Jaga Jaga, which criticised the state of the country at the time. The song was banned from radio during the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo but still gained widespread popularity among Nigerians.

With his latest comments, the rapper continues to position himself as one of the few voices in the entertainment industry consistently engaging with political discourse.

As reactions continue to pour in, his statements once again highlight the growing intersection between entertainment and politics in Nigeria, where artistes are increasingly using their platforms to comment on national issues and hold leaders accountable.
