Award-winning Nigerian singer Davido has opened up about why he is reconsidering his long-standing interest in politics, admitting that the realities of the field have made him rethink his plans.
Speaking during a livestream conversation on Twitch with streamer Davrel, the music star shared that while he once had strong intentions of venturing into politics, his perspective has changed after carefully observing how things play out for public figures who make such a transition.
Davido explained that his decision is largely influenced by concerns about how entering politics could affect the reputation and goodwill he has spent years building. According to him, the entertainment industry has given him a global platform, a loyal fan base, and a respected name—assets he is not willing to risk lightly.
“Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things; the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful,” he said.
