Nigerian nightlife entrepreneur and social figure Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has signalled his entry into active politics with a fresh move toward the 2027 general elections.
The celebrity businessman recently visited the Imo State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he met with party officials and formally expressed his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
During the visit, Cubana Chief Priest revealed that he aims to represent the Oru East, Orsu, and Orlu Federal Constituency, marking what appears to be a significant shift from entertainment and hospitality into public service.
Sharing details of the meeting in a video posted online, he stated that he used the opportunity to congratulate members of the party’s state working committee while also unveiling his political ambition.
“Stopped by our great party, APC, state secretariat to congratulate and encourage our state working committee on their emergence. Above all, I made known to them my humble aspiration to represent my people, the good people of Orsu, Orlu and Oru East Federal Constituency, at the House of Representatives,” he said.
He further expressed faith in divine direction regarding his political journey, adding: “Na God get power; let the will of God be done. From our party women’s mouths to the mouth of God.”
Sources at the meeting indicated that party stakeholders received him warmly, with some leaders commending his confidence, visibility, and grassroots appeal. One party chieftain, while addressing him, highlighted his versatility and influence, noting that his personality cuts across multiple fields.
“I don’t know if you’re a motivational speaker, a businessman, or a politician; you fit into all of them. In the short time we were involved in the City Boy movement, you could see the light you brought into the place,” the chieftain said.
“You are very proud to be associated with the party; you speak about it proudly, and I’m sure that will speak for you. And we will support you,” he added.
In recent months, Cubana Chief Priest has become increasingly visible in political circles, particularly in his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He currently serves as the Imo State director of the City Boy Movement, a political group focused on mobilising youth support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
His latest move suggests a deliberate effort to transition from being a political supporter to becoming an active participant in governance. With a strong social media presence and influence among young Nigerians, his entry into politics could reshape conversations around celebrity involvement in public office.
Interestingly, his declaration comes at a time when more figures from the entertainment industry are showing interest in political roles. Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has also reportedly indicated interest in contesting for a legislative position, although under a different political platform.
As preparations for the 2027 elections gradually begin to take shape, Cubana Chief Priest’s ambition adds to the growing list of high-profile individuals seeking to transition into political leadership.
Whether his popularity and grassroots appeal will translate into electoral success remains to be seen, but his declaration has already sparked conversations across social and political spaces.
