Nollywood actress Toyin Adewale has dismissed viral reports claiming that her son, Afrobeats singer Mayorkun, was involved in a house fire incident, describing the story as false and misleading.
The rumours had earlier circulated online, suggesting that Mayorkun’s Lagos residence was engulfed in flames following an explosion on Saturday night, with some reports alleging that he and his family narrowly escaped the incident.
However, reacting via her Instagram page, Toyin Adewale refuted the claims and questioned the credibility of those spreading the story without proper verification. She expressed frustration over what she described as irresponsible reporting and prayed against any form of negativity directed at her family.
“Goldmyne, why would you do this? Don’t you verify your news before posting? This is seriously unfair. Anyway, I leave whoever supplies you with this bad news to God. My family and I will never cry, nor sorrow, nor evil shall befall us IJN. Please, Goldmyne, learn to do better,” she said.
She went on to reassure the public that her family is safe and unaffected by the rumoured incident, expressing gratitude to those who reached out with calls and messages to check on them.
“And to my family and friends, I say thank you so much for the calls and messages. I sincerely appreciate. Amen, Amen, and Amen IJN. So I pray for my family, friends, and colleagues. Eseun Modupe o. Thanks for checking on us. Thanks for your calls and messages. I truly appreciate. We shall not cry nor mourn over our children. No evil shall befall anyone of us. It is well with us all IJN,” she added.
The actress’ response comes as another example of how false information can spread rapidly across social media, often causing unnecessary panic and concern among fans and loved ones.
