The Ogun State Police Command has officially started an investigation into reports that popular comedian and social media influencer Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, was allegedly shot while filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge, where Broda Shaggi was recording one of his skits. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, it is reported that the comedian sustained a gunshot injury during the event.
Despite the claims circulating on social media, the Ogun State Police Command has said it cannot confirm whether the shooting actually took place within the state. In a statement released on Friday, the police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while investigations continue.
“For the sake of clarity, the command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggy was shot anywhere within Ogun State.
Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced. Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course,” Babaseyi stated.
So far, no official report has been made to the police by Broda Shaggi’s team regarding the alleged incident. Following the event, the comedian was reportedly rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where he was admitted and received treatment for his injuries.
The incident has sparked a lot of online chatter, with fans expressing concern for the comedian’s safety. While the situation remains under investigation, authorities are calling for calm and caution against spreading unconfirmed reports, emphasizing that the facts will only be clear once the official inquiry is concluded.
Broda Shaggi, who rose to fame with his comedic skits and signature catchphrases, continues to be one of Nigeria’s most followed social media personalities.
The public now waits to hear an official update from both the police and the comedian’s team.
