Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has pledged to donate the entire proceeds from the cinema run of her latest film Mother’s Love to support education for children in underserved communities across Nigeria.

The veteran actress made the announcement during a private screening of the film, revealing that all proceeds accruing to her production company from the theatrical release would be directed toward a charitable cause.

According to her, the funds will be donated to Slum2School Africa, a non-profit organisation that focuses on improving access to education for children living in disadvantaged communities.

Speaking at the event, Omotola explained that the decision was inspired by a strong desire to use her platform and creative work to make a meaningful social impact.

She described the moment as a turning point that helped her realize the importance of aligning her professional achievements with causes that uplift vulnerable members of society.

“I stand before you honoured to announce that a hundred percent of the production company proceeds from the theatrical release of Mother’s Love will be donated to advancing access to education for underserved children,” she said.

The actress later reinforced the announcement through a message shared on social media, expressing gratitude to God and explaining that the proceeds would be used to support educational opportunities for children in underserved communities, including Makoko in Lagos, which also served as part of the film’s background setting.

Omotola stated that the funds generated from the movie will be handed over to Slum2School Africa to assist in expanding the organisation’s initiatives.

The group is widely known for providing scholarships, school supplies, learning centres, and other educational support to children living in slums and rural communities across Nigeria.

Mother’s Love represents a significant milestone in Omotola’s career, as it marks her directorial debut after decades of prominence as one of Nollywood’s most celebrated actresses.

The film premiered in cinemas on March 6 and explores themes such as family bonds, social class, sacrifice, and personal growth.

The story follows a sheltered young woman who begins to navigate independence during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year.

Through her experiences, the film reflects the realities of young Nigerians adjusting to adulthood while dealing with social expectations and economic realities.

Early box office reports suggest that the film has enjoyed a promising start in Nigerian cinemas.

Within its opening weekend, Mother’s Love reportedly generated more than ₦24 million, an indication that audiences are responding positively to the project.

However, the total amount that will ultimately be donated depends on how well the film performs during its full theatrical run.

Since Omotola’s pledge applies specifically to the share of revenue earned by her production company, higher ticket sales would translate into greater funding for the educational initiatives.

The initiative has already attracted praise from fans and industry observers who view the gesture as an example of how entertainment can be used as a vehicle for social change.
