Reality TV star and rapper Laycon has revealed how he struggled to reconnect with his inner voice following his Big Brother Naija win in 2020, sharing insights into the role of silence and solitude in his personal growth.

Speaking in a recent episode of his video series “Life With Laycon”, the singer, whose real name is Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, reflected on the overwhelming nature of fame and how it temporarily disconnected him from his own thoughts.

“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” Laycon asked, recounting his experience.

He explained that after his reality show victory, he lost touch with his inner guidance, only rediscovering it in December 2021, following his sold-out concert, The Icons Fest. “The first time I heard that voice again was after my concert,” he said, describing the moment as both transformative and introspective.

According to the rapper, his reawakened inner voice prompted him with deep, reflective questions about his life, purpose, and future. “The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?’” he explained. These questions encouraged him to spend time alone, confronting difficult truths and realizing aspects of himself he had previously overlooked.

Laycon emphasized that personal growth often requires moments of quiet and reflection, which many people avoid due to discomfort. He noted that solitude allows individuals to assess their lives more clearly, confront their realities, and take actionable steps toward change.

“Silence can feel uncomfortable, but it’s a powerful tool for self-reflection and growth,” Laycon said. He encouraged his fans to embrace solitude, urging them to take time for introspection and to hold themselves accountable for their choices.
