Phyna, the Big Brother Naija Level Up winner, has opened up about her difficult childhood and the struggles that shaped her journey to fame.
In a recent interview, the reality star revealed that her parents gave her the name Blessing, but she never liked it because she couldn’t see any blessings in her life at the time.
“The name given to me by my parents is Blessing. My reason for hating that name was that I don’t see a sense of blessing in my life,” Phyna explained.
She went on to describe how she constantly felt like she was seeking love from everyone around her, yet rarely received it.
“It felt like I was always begging for love – family love, friendship, even in relationships. Even, in fact, dem don use am curse me,” she added.
For Phyna, growing up was far from easy. She missed out on opportunities many teenagers take for granted and often felt isolated within her family.
“All aspects of growing up for me were very cràzy. As a teenager, there are things you could get from parents and family, but I didn’t have that,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Phyna always believed she was destined for something bigger. She said she would boldly tell her extended family that one day they would see her on television and that she would succeed, even when they mistreated her. “I knew for one that I was going to be big. Growing up, I would always tell my aunts, even when they beat or maltreated me, that I would tell them they would watch me on Television and I would have money,” she recalled.
Today, Phyna’s words have come true. From a childhood filled with struggles, she has emerged as one of Nigeria’s most popular reality stars, proving that resilience and self-belief can turn even the hardest beginnings into remarkable success.
