Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola has stirred conversations online after revealing that she does not feel like a married woman, despite being in a long-standing union with her husband, Kayode Salako.

The actress made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the African A-List podcast, where she opened up about the dynamics of her marriage and the level of freedom she enjoys.

Speaking candidly, Daramola described her husband as the “definition of peace,” emphasizing that their relationship is built on understanding rather than control.

According to her, Salako’s approach to marriage allows her to live freely without feeling restricted. She explained that even if she decided to travel abroad for an extended period, her husband would support her decision without hesitation.

For her, this level of independence does not diminish the love in their relationship but rather strengthens it.

Daramola noted that she sees her husband not just as a life partner but also as a close friend and her biggest supporter.

She highlighted that their bond goes beyond traditional marital expectations, which is why she does not feel the typical pressures often associated with marriage.

Despite occasional disagreements, she said their conflicts are usually short-lived, as they resolve issues quickly and move forward without holding grudges.

Her remarks have drawn attention partly because of the history surrounding their marriage. About two years ago, Salako publicly confirmed that he had married another woman, Oluwafunke Oyegoke-Salako, while still being married to Daramola.

The revelation sparked widespread reactions at the time, with many questioning how the actress handled the situation.

Salako, however, defended his decision, stating that his marriage to Daramola, which began in 2010, had not produced a biological child after more than a decade.

His explanation added another layer of complexity to the couple’s relationship, making Daramola’s recent comments even more intriguing to the public.

Despite the controversy, Daramola’s latest statements suggest that she has embraced the unique structure of her marriage. Rather than conforming to societal expectations, she appears to prioritize peace, mutual respect, and personal freedom.

Her perspective challenges conventional ideas about marriage, especially within the Nigerian context, where traditional roles and expectations often dominate discussions about relationships.

The actress’s openness has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some praising her for her honesty and progressive outlook, while others question whether such an arrangement truly reflects a healthy marriage.

Regardless of public opinion, Daramola’s stance highlights the evolving nature of modern relationships and the different ways couples choose to define happiness and stability.

As conversations continue, her remarks serve as a reminder that marriage means different things to different people, and what works for one couple may not necessarily apply to another.
