“I Didn’t Offend Her,” Fabiyi Explains Rift With Funke Akindele

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind, and in a recent interview, he opened up about the complexities of the film industry and a sudden rift with longtime friend Funke Akindele.

According to Fabiyi, working in Nollywood isn’t always glamorous.

“Our industry is very terrible. Those who you think are good people are not,” he says, reflecting on the challenges he has faced in an environment where loyalty and trust can sometimes be hard to find.

The actor’s honesty extended into his personal life, particularly regarding his friendship with Funke Akindele. Once close friends, their relationship abruptly ended under circumstances that Fabiyi says were puzzling. 

“Funke Akindele was my friend from way back. The day I told her that I had completed my house was the last day she ever talked to me and I didn't offend her,” he explains, highlighting how quickly bonds can shift in the industry.
