The recent wave of violence in Jos has continued to stir emotional reactions across Nigeria, with Nollywood actor Bolanle Ninalowo adding his voice to the growing call for compassion and accountability.
The actor, known for his strong screen presence, took a reflective and heartfelt approach as he addressed the tragic incident that claimed several lives in Angwa Rukuba on Palm Sunday.
Rather than issuing a routine statement, Ninalowo used the moment to reassess his own stance and publicly align himself with the struggles of everyday Nigerians. His message, shared via Instagram, carried a tone of both sorrow and personal conviction, making it clear that he no longer wishes to remain on the sidelines during moments of national pain.
“I choose to be a voice for the people, not for any government,” he declared, setting a firm boundary between his personal beliefs and political affiliations.
The attack, reportedly carried out by gunmen, left families grieving and communities shaken. While many public figures have reacted, Ninalowo’s response stood out for its introspective nature. He openly acknowledged that he may not have always spoken in a way that truly reflected his values, suggesting a shift in perspective influenced by the harsh realities facing the nation.
“The tragic events in Jos, Nigeria, broke my heart. I may have made a misaligned call in the past
thoughts made in a moment, with good intentions but I cannot stay silent when I realise I may have overlooked my core values,” he admitted.
His remarks also emphasized a desire for meaningful progress rather than political loyalty. According to him, the suffering experienced by Nigerians should never be ignored or politicized. “My hope is for change, not for political support. I cannot stand by and watch people suffer for any reason. Nigerians bleed, and I will not be ignorant of that reality.”
Beyond expressing grief, the actor’s message reflected a broader concern about the state of the nation and the urgency for change. He concluded with a solemn prayer, hoping for a better future for all. “May God bring the change we all desire to make Nigeria a better place. God bless & help Nigeria.”
His statement adds to the ongoing national conversation, as citizens and public figures alike continue to demand solutions and a renewed commitment to protecting lives.
