Nigerian entertainment company Dapper Live has earned international recognition after officially securing a Guinness World Records title for hosting the largest orchestra ever assembled for an Afrobeats concert.

The record-breaking achievement took place on December 16, 2025, during the event titled Trench Symphony: The Dapper Live Experience, held at the Balmoral Eko Convention Centre in Lagos.

According to a statement published by Guinness World Records, the event successfully brought together 85 orchestral musicians, who performed alongside several Afrobeats stars in a live musical showcase. The performance officially set a new global record for the largest orchestra ever featured at an Afrobeats concert.

“The largest orchestra for an Afrobeats concert is 85 and was achieved by Dapper Live & Artists (Nigeria) in Lagos, Nigeria, on 16 December 2025,” the organisation confirmed in its blog post.

The record attempt took the form of a large-scale live concert that combined Afrobeats with orchestral instrumentation. The performance featured a conductor leading the ensemble while a lead singer, choir members, dancers, and the full orchestra performed in a coordinated arrangement.

“The attempt took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre and was staged as a live orchestral performance based on an Afrobeats composition. Led by a conductor, the concert featured a lead singer, an accompanying choir, dancers, and 85 musicians performing in coordination,” the statement added.

The project was spearheaded by Damilola Akinwunmi, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Dapper Group, who served as the executive producer of the event. His vision was to create a unique musical experience that would blend the vibrant rhythm of Afrobeats with the grandeur of orchestral music.

The production was supported by a team of experienced music professionals. The orchestral arrangement and musical direction were handled by Bazzman Sam, Fatola, and Clintonic, who worked together to coordinate the large group of musicians and performers.

Sound production for the event was led by renowned music producer Temitayo Ibitoye, popularly known as Tee Y Mix. He collaborated with sound engineer Mr Bassey to ensure the orchestral performance blended seamlessly with the energetic Afrobeats sound.

Creative direction for the show was handled by Director K, while the event itself was produced by Owambe Events. The concert was directed by Dunni Akinwunmi, who oversaw the execution of the ambitious production.

The record-setting concert also featured an impressive lineup of Afrobeats performers who entertained the audience throughout the night. Artists who appeared on stage included T.I Blaze, TML Vibez, Bhadboi OML, Rybeena, Lasmid, Cazulee, Kashcoming, and DWillsHarmony.

In addition to the Afrobeats stars, the audience witnessed a unique cultural blend as Fuji music legends Saheed Osupa and King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal made special guest appearances. Their performances added a traditional Nigerian sound to the orchestral arrangement, creating a rare fusion of Fuji and Afrobeats on a grand musical stage.

The achievement highlights the growing global influence of Afrobeats and the increasing innovation within Nigeria’s music and entertainment industry. By integrating a full orchestra into a live Afrobeats concert, the organisers demonstrated how the genre can evolve while still maintaining its energetic identity.

With the new Guinness World Record now officially recognised, Trench Symphony: The Dapper Live Experience has marked a historic moment for Nigerian music, showcasing the creative possibilities that arise when traditional orchestral elements meet modern African sounds.
