Popular Nigerian comedian and social media sensation Samuel Perry, professionally known as Broda Shaggi, is currently receiving medical treatment following a gunshot injury sustained while filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge, leaving fans and colleagues shocked.
Details surrounding how the shooting occurred remain unclear. However, an anonymous police source confirmed that Broda Shaggi was in the middle of recording content for his social media platforms when he was hit by the gunshot. The source said, “He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t have details on how it happened yet, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital.”
Following the injury, Broda Shaggi was initially taken to Blooming Care Hospital in Alakuko, Lagos, where he received first aid treatment. After an initial assessment, he was referred to Duchess Hospital in Ikeja for further care. Reports indicate that the comedian is now stable and recuperating under close medical supervision.
Authorities were notified promptly after he arrived at the hospital. Abimbola Adebisi, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, stated that the hospital contacted the police about a gunshot victim, prompting a swift response. “The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggi,” Adebisi said.
She added that Broda Shaggi sustained the injury to his thigh and that the location of the shooting falls outside the jurisdiction of Lagos State. “He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” she explained.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed that no formal complaint had been filed with their office. Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for Ogun State Police, said, “The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it was not reported. We are currently liaising with relevant authorities to ascertain the exact circumstances of the shooting.”
The incident has sparked widespread concern among fans and fellow entertainers, who have taken to social media to express their support for Broda Shaggi. Many have wished him a speedy recovery, while some have also raised questions about the security and safety measures in areas where content creators film outdoor skits.
