Asake has firmly established himself as one of Nigeria’s most influential music stars, topping the list of the most-streamed albums of all time in the country since 2020.
According to data from TurnTable Charts, Nigeria’s leading music chart publication, Asake’s debut and sophomore albums have dominated streaming platforms, reflecting both his commercial success and cultural impact.
Topping the list with an impressive 661.2 million streams is Asake’s sophomore album, Work of Art, released in 2023.
The album received both critical acclaim and widespread commercial success, and it continues to hold a prominent position on streaming charts. His debut album, Mr Money With The Vibe, follows closely with 634 million streams, securing the second spot.
Asake’s third studio effort, Lungu Boy, ranks sixth with 387 million streams, demonstrating his continued influence in the Nigerian music scene.
This dominance underscores Asake’s role as a defining star of the current era. Since breaking into mainstream music with his EP Ololade Asake in January 2022, the artist has combined energetic rap flows with smooth fuji-inflected melodies, creating a unique sound that has resonated with listeners.
His partnership with producer Magicsticks, known for dynamic use of log drums, has further strengthened his appeal, producing hit singles that have rapidly propelled him to superstardom.
The data from TurnTable Charts aligns with Spotify Nigeria’s report naming Asake the most-streamed artist of all time on the platform since its Nigerian launch in 2021. With three albums in the top ten, he has become the undisputed king of the streaming era in Nigeria.
Other prominent Nigerian artists also made notable appearances on the list. Burna Boy logged three entries, with Love, Damini at number four with 436.8 million streams, I Told Them at number nine with 308 million streams, and his 2020 Grammy-winning album Twice As Tall at 19th with 235.3 million streams.
Davido had two albums featured, with Timeless ranking fifth with 428 million streams and 5IVE at number 15.
Wizkid also appeared twice, with Morayo at tenth (301.4 million) and Made in Lagos at 13th (264.1 million). Seyi Vibez recorded two entries with Billion Dollar Baby and Thy Kingdom Come.
Asake’s dominance of streaming charts is a reflection of his influence on Nigeria’s music landscape. He has reshaped the sound of contemporary Afrobeats, shifting the industry’s commercial balance while offering fans a vibrant and unique musical experience.
With multiple albums performing at such a high level, Asake is not only a commercial powerhouse but also a cultural force whose impact on Nigerian music will be felt for years to come.
As the Nigerian music industry continues to grow globally, artists like Asake demonstrate how digital platforms can redefine success, cementing their legacies in the streaming era and inspiring a new generation of musicians.
