Veteran Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has expressed his grief over the passing of actress Faithia Williams’ mother, describing her as a remarkable parent and grandmother whose death came as a deep shock.
Reacting on his Instagram page on Monday, Balogun noted the difficulty of accepting her death, reflecting on how people often assume that good souls will live forever.
“Sometimes, it feels like good people will live forever, so it cuts deeply when they pass,” he wrote, highlighting the profound loss felt by the family and close friends.
Balogun praised her role within the family, describing her as a supportive and loving mother and grandmother. “You were a wonderful mother and a grandmother,” he said.
He also shared his confidence in her faith and prayed for her eternal rest, adding, “One thing I am sure of is that you will go to heaven, Insha Allah. Rest well, sweet mother.”
Faithia Williams confirmed her mother’s death in a statement posted on her Instagram page, revealing that she passed away on Saturday, February 7, a day before the actress’ birthday celebration in Lagos.
Williams, who turned 55 on Thursday, February 5, had postponed her birthday party to Sunday. Family members withheld the sad news so she could celebrate, a gesture that left her learning of her mother’s passing only after the event.
In her post, Williams described her mother as a central figure in her life, emphasizing the emotional weight of the loss. She noted that the family had decided to keep funeral arrangements private for the time being and requested prayers and support from friends, fans, and well-wishers.
“Burial details will be announced later,” she stated, underscoring the family’s wish for privacy during this difficult period.
The birthday celebration saw attendance from several Nollywood figures, including Funke Akindele, Pasuma, Kazim Adeoti, Wumi Ajiboye, Regina Chukwu, Fausat Balogun, Shaffy Bello, and MC Oluomo, making it a gathering of close friends and colleagues who shared in both joy and eventual sorrow.
Faithia Williams and Saidi Balogun, her former husband, share two children, further emphasizing the family bonds affected by this loss.
Condolence messages have continued to pour in from colleagues, fans, and the broader entertainment industry, reflecting the widespread respect for both Faithia Williams’ mother and her family.
The passing serves as a reminder of the fragile nature of life and the profound impact of those who leave behind enduring legacies of love, care, and support.
Saidi Balogun’s tribute and Faithia Williams’ heartfelt announcement highlight the importance of family, faith, and community support during moments of grief.
As the family navigates this difficult time, fans and well-wishers continue to send messages of comfort and solidarity, honoring the life of a beloved mother and grandmother.
