Reality TV star and entertainer Teddy A has revealed the emotional and professional toll that false allegations of domestic violence had on his life, explaining how claims that he assaulted his wife, Bambam, negatively affected public perception and opportunities in his career.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 37-year-old singer and actor addressed the damaging rumours, stressing that he has never laid hands on his wife. He noted that the narrative altered how brands and promoters viewed him, resulting in fewer bookings and collaborations.

Reflecting on when the allegations first surfaced, Teddy A shared, “When they said I was beating my wife, it was a lot for me. That day, I woke up and went downstairs. My wife was pregnant, and we were just laughing.”

He explained that he only became aware of the controversy after noticing a sudden surge in notifications on his phone. “I checked my phone, and I saw my notification going up, and I was like, I didn’t drop any content that is trending. What did I do, or what are they saying now?”

As he scrolled through the comments, the reality of the situation became clear, leaving both him and his wife shaken. “Then I’m going through comments, and I am surprised. You know my wife is a bit emotional, and she started asking who would have done this,” he recounted.

Teddy A admitted that he initially suspected the rumours might have stemmed from personal grudges. “I thought it was probably one ex or ‘village people,’” he said, adding that his manager advised him to ignore the claims rather than respond publicly. “I called my manager, and he advised me not to fuel the fire and to let it go.”

However, staying silent came with consequences. “It affected my image. Anytime my wife and I posted, the comments were terrible because we didn’t immediately debunk the claims,” Teddy A explained, noting that the persistent backlash took a toll on both their peace of mind and his professional prospects.

Born Tope Adenibuyan, Teddy A began his music journey as a rapper and singer in Dallas, United States, before relocating to Nigeria. He rose to national fame after participating in the Big Brother Naija ‘Double Wahala’ Season 3, where he met his now-wife, Bambam.

The couple tied the knot in a white wedding ceremony in Dubai in 2019. They welcomed their first child in 2020 and later celebrated the arrival of their second child in 2022.

Teddy A’s candid reflections underscore the far-reaching impact of online rumours and the pressure public figures face in navigating social media narratives. He emphasized that even false allegations can have lasting consequences on a celebrity’s reputation, mental health, and career opportunities.

He advised aspiring entertainers and public figures to remain vigilant, seek guidance from trusted managers, and approach controversy with caution. Despite the challenges, Teddy A continues to focus on his music and family, determined to protect both from misinformation and unnecessary public scrutiny.

In conclusion, Teddy A’s story highlights the importance of verifying claims before reacting and the emotional burden that false accusations can place on individuals and their loved ones. While he continues to thrive in his career, the experience has left an indelible mark, reinforcing the need for responsible reporting and mindful consumption of social media narratives.
