Actor and filmmaker Rotimi Salami has announced plans to release a new film project he worked on with his late colleague and close friend, Allwell Ademola, with the movie set to hit cinemas in March.

The film, titled Kilanko: The Invisible Child, was produced by Salami and directed by Ademola before her death in December 2025.

Salami shared the update with fans and colleagues on social media, describing the project as a shared dream between himself and the late filmmaker.

According to him, Kilanko was conceived as a major step toward establishing Ademola’s creative legacy in the Nigerian film industry. He noted that promotional materials for the film have already begun rolling out ahead of its official release.

In an emotional post, Salami explained that the project was a collaborative effort built on trust and mutual belief.

He revealed that while he took responsibility for the logistics, funding, and search for sponsors, Ademola focused entirely on directing the film. Recalling their early conversations, Salami said he encouraged her to take on the ambitious project even when she initially felt unprepared.

“When I told her we should do something big, she said she wasn’t ready,” Salami recounted. “And I said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll produce this, you just direct.’” He described the film as a labour of love and a testament to Ademola’s dedication to storytelling and filmmaking.

Salami also appealed to colleagues and members of the public to support the project ahead of its release.

He stressed that support does not have to come solely from actors or filmmakers, encouraging people to help by sharing promotional content and spreading the word across social media platforms.

According to him, collective support will help ensure that the film reaches a wider audience and properly honours Ademola’s work.

Kilanko: The Invisible Child is scheduled to premiere on March 1, 2026, ahead of its nationwide cinema release on March 6. The film is expected to draw attention not only for its storyline but also for its significance as one of the last projects directed by Ademola.

Allwell Ademola, an actress, director, and producer, passed away on December 27, 2025. She was widely respected in Nollywood for her versatility and commitment to her craft, having worked in both Yoruba and English-language films over the course of her career.

Her death sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues across the industry, many of whom praised her professionalism, creativity, and impact both in front of and behind the camera.

Industry observers see Kilanko: The Invisible Child as an important addition to Ademola’s body of work and a fitting tribute to her contributions to Nigerian cinema.

With Salami spearheading its release, the film is expected to serve as a reminder of her passion for filmmaking and her lasting influence on Nollywood.

As the March release date approaches, anticipation continues to build around the project, with fans and industry stakeholders eager to see the final work of a filmmaker whose legacy continues to resonate within the Nigerian entertainment space.
